Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Parenting Group Facilitator is responsible to provide evidence based parent education and support programming at the Julie Valentine Center and community locations. The Parenting Group Facilitator will engage parents in developing positive discipline, understanding child development and reducing incidence of neglect. Responsibilities include assisting in researching, developing, and maintaining program materials that are evidence based and meet the requirements funding sources; maintaining documentation of program outcomes, reports, and statistics in a timely manner. In addition, the candidate must be able to network with community partners, develop and maintain collaborative partnerships as well as assist in marketing the Parent Education and Support programs in the community; participate in state and local meetings and trainings.
This is a full-time position which requires flexibility and candidates must be available at least three evenings a week.
Minimum Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field; Licensure Required
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Must have a minimum of three years experience working with adults and children, specific to improving parenting skills. Knowledge ofthe criminal justice system, interpersonal violence and child abuse; experience in crisis intervention; excellent communication skills; experience in public speaking and/or training; ability to remain calm in crisis situations; ability to work independently at organizing and planning programs in the community; must have reliable transportation.
